Choosing a secondary school for your child is not always easy. Will he/she fulfil the promise shown at primary school? How well will the school prepare him/her for adult life? And, most importantly, will he/she be happy?
As a Specialist
Technology College, Woodham is committed to providing high-quality education
in our Technology College subjects - Maths, Science, ICT and Technology. We,
along with most employers, believe that high standards of literacy and a
broad general education are also essential. In 2007, 56% of our students
achieved at least 5 good GCSE grades (48% with both Maths and English) and
one third awarded at A*, A or B grade. Being
a large college, we currently have over 1200 students on roll which allows
us year-on-year to increase the range of vocational courses on offer. These
now include Engineering, Business, Applied Art and Design, and Health and
Social Care. At the same time, we are continuing to develop the already
excellent opportunities available in Art, PE and Performing Arts.

Visitors to Woodham often comment on the happy, friendly atmosphere. We pride ourselves on how well we care for our students and try to make the move from primary to secondary something to look forward to. Year 6 pupils from all primary schools in Aycliffe and Heighington attend our weekly Teatime Club where they take part in fun activities whilst making friends with their future classmates and those in our current Year 7. Pupils in Year 5 and Year 6 not only spend time at Woodham with their class but also meet teachers and students from Woodham who visit them in their own schools. Once Year6 pupils have been given a place at Woodham, they are invited to spend a day with us, and their parents are invited to an information evening. For more information, please visit the Woodham First section of the Parents' Page.
